Language certificate recognised in Switzerland (from the age of 16), based on daily life - and suitable for people with a limited educational background
The fide test is recognised throughout Switzerland and can be used for employment, naturalisation, residence and settlement purposes.
The test is suitable for people age 16+
We are an accredited examination institution and conduct the fide test several times a year.
The fide-Test can be used to demonstrate oral and written language skills in German, French and Italian. It was developed on behalf of the State Secretariat for Migration SEM, especially for everyday life in Switzerland.
The oral and written competencies are tested separately and shown separately in the "Sprachenpass".
Duration of the fide-Test:
Oral part: 40 minutes
written part: Introduction 15 minutes, test 60 minutes
The levels achieved (A1, A2 or B1) can be proven using the language passport when looking for a job, for naturalisation or for a residence or settlement permit.
It is possible to register for the fide test in all regions of Switzerland: there are more than 100 accredited testing institutions that conduct the fide test several times a year.
Candidates can demonstrate their language skills in everyday communicative situations;
In the oral part, Swiss German dialects are also accepted;
The tasks are straightforward so as not to negatively affect people with limited school education or course experience;
The test level is not chosen in advance: the test itself identifies the levels (A1, A2 or B1) according to the skills shown in each part (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
