Volunteers from Zug act as hosts to accompany newcomers upon their arrival in Zug. They show them the most important places in Zug and pave the way to help them settle in successfully and quickly.
Every year about 2500 people move to Zug from abroad. They often have two initial difficulties in common: 1) uncertainty about general life in Zug and 2) lack of social and professional network and contacts. The aim is for newcomers to settle quickly in Zug, get to know the most important authorities and be able to participate actively in society, whilst also improving their German language skills. Become part of the New Zug Welcome Culture and contribute actively to a harmonious coexistence!

Join as a Zuger Newcomer and get to know your new home better. You will be guided by a local host, improve your network and participate actively in Zug. This will make you feel more quickly at home here and learn German at the same time.
To be open-minded and curious about new things.
The aim is for local hosts to make it easier for you as a newcomer to settle in in Zug. You will be able to play an active role and master the daily challenges quickly and independently.

Pairing is carried out by FMZ according to the greatest possible alignment of interests, such as hobbies and family circumstances. FMZ will send you and your possible host the email contacts for direct contact.
You meet 1 to 3 times, depending on mutual interest, without any further obligations and no financial expenditure other than your own expenses
As a host, you accompany a newcomer up to three times, as needed. Showing them your favourite places or clubs. Your role as host is to immerse yourself in new cultures, gain a better understanding of the challenges for newcomers, take an active role in two-way integration and make a valuable contribution to social welfare.
You show the canton to new arrivals from abroad. Be their contact person for everyday questions, provide information about Zug, the authorities and introduce them to Swiss culture and values.
As a host, you can make new acquaintances with newcomers from all over the world and immerse yourself in new cultures.

Switzerland is a country of clubs. Nowhere else is the civil society commitment as high. Clubs have a considerable influence on our social interaction. In our increasingly individualised society, you and your association also assume an important function in the field of integration.
Existing club members can get involved as hosts and accompany like-minded new arrivals upon their arrival and make their introduction to their club easier.
There are two ways for clubs to participate in this project:
1) Register your club as being interested in accepting newcomers as new members.
2) Existing club members register individually as hosts and show newcomers - among other things - your club.
